Thing #4

Blogging begins with reading

After reading many different blogs I have realized how useful blogging could be in the classroom. Blogging could allows students to respond and reflect on something they have just learned. Students could also respond to other students post. This would require students to use higher level and critical thinking. Blogging would allow students to write what they are feeling. Other students could also relate to those feeling. Students can also encourage other students in their learning. After I read Patrick's Update I realized that many students feel alone. Look how many people left him encouraging coments. If a student were struggling on an assignment another student might read their blog and be able to lend a helping hand. Blogging encourages students to read and not just textbook read. I can honestly say that most of the reading I do is not a textbook. I read magazines, newspapers, blogs ect. This would help students to see different types of writing. Also most of the writing we do is not formal like a research paper. The writing I do includes jotting down notes, writing directions and making list. Students need to be exposed to all forms of writing they will use everyday.
